UB's Insurance & Billing Service

Making Therapy Affordable

billing_service2

Urban Balance is an insurance-friendly practice. Many other practices either do not accept insurance or simply furnish their clients with receipts for them to submit to their insurance companies, which can lead to claims being denied, incorrectly processed, or covered at a lower out-of-network rate.

UB accepts most insurance plans and has an internal Billing Department that checks benefits, requests authorizations and submits claims on the client's behalf, making therapy and counseling become accessible and affordable. We believe this affordability enables clients to stay in treatment until they have achieved their goals and have made progress in therapy.

Urban Balance has therapists on staff who are contracted as in-network providers with many insurance and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) companies.

Please note that for some plans, Urban Balance is listed as the provider and for others it may be under the name of the individual therapist. Please call Urban Balance directly to verify if we are in a certain insurance plan network.

Most insurance plans will cover outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment, and new mental health parity laws are helping to improve coverage. Please bring your insurance card to the first appointment. If we are a network provider, we will honor the contracted rate which is anywhere from $60-$125 per session depending on the plan (this is discounted from our regular rate of $150 for the initial visit and $125 for every session thereafter). Your co-payment and the number of sessions allowed per year depends on your particular plan. Our therapists utilize a billing service that will check your benefits, request authorizations, and submit claims on your behalf. Your therapist will explain your coverage to you and will collect your co-payments at each session. The quote of benefits we get from your insurance company is not a guarantee of coverage. Co-payments can be made by check, cash or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) for our clients' convenience.

If your benefits include EAP sessions, these visits are free to you. The number of visits depends on your employer's plan (usually EAP benefits range from 1 to 8 sessions). EAP visits may be used for assessment, brief treatment, and transition to ongoing therapy under insurance as needed.

If insurance coverage is limited or is maximized, UB also offers a sliding fee scale based on income. The lowest fee we can accept is $65 per session. Receipts for flexible spending accounts may be furnished upon request.

If your employer offers a Flexible Spending Account, UB will furnish a receipt for your out-of-pocket expenses so that you can pay for these services with pre-taxed dollars which will save you money.
